The universal jewelry of August in Winter
« August in Winter is a paradox, but also a reflection of my fundamentally optimistic state of mind, » says Marie-Aurore Leclerc, a recently converted jeweler in her forties. After a career as a fashion designer, now at the bench, she returns to her first love: jewelry and literature. She was considering writing words hidden inside her first pieces just before reading « The Hands of Louis Braille » by author and sculptor Hélène Jousse: « A poignant story and revolutionary writing that I wanted to learn! » She then began hammering the signs onto a silver pendant. The result is very graphic and impactful: « Another paradox: making tactile writing something visual! »
